Urgent Appeal for Action – Release Liaoyang Four Now!

10 January 2003

Now that a trial date has been set for Yao Fuxin and Xiao Yunliang on January 15, your support is urgently needed.

Liaoyang labour activists Yao and Xiao were arrested last March for their leading roles in the four-year campaign against corruption and bankruptcy at the Liaoyang Ferroalloy Factory. After their 9-month detention with no formal charges, they have just been charged with subversion -- they were originally arrested for organising illegal protests!

We are urging you to stand in solidarity with Yao and Xiao and their families, particularly that local authorities have their home phones cut off from incoming calls to prevent them from publicising the workers' cause and seeking support. CLB managed to talk with Yao and Xiao’s families before the phone cut off. Take a look at what the outrageous charges mean to them, and their determination to fight on: Yao’s daughter on his father and the workers’ protests and Xiao’s wife speaks out/>

Join our online appeal and send letters to the Chinese government demanding the immediate release of Yao and Xiao, and their fellow workers' representatives Wang Zhaoming and Pang Qingxiang.

ACT NOW!
