The blog Black and White Cat has translated a post from a young Beijing professor, Xu Zhirong, who wrote about his experience exposing one of Beijing’s “black jails” - extrajudicial detention centres run by thugs who help repatriate petitioners for local or provincial governments. Meanwhile, the blog China Smack has translated a post from the journalist Wang Haofeng, who has complied photos of child labour in “black factories” around Wuhan.
These blog posts reflect the positive role that the Internet can play in exposing corrupt and illegal government and business practices, and it also is highlights the interesting phenomenon of the various English-language blogs that are dedicated to translating some the unruly and wild debates taking place in the Chinese blogesphere.
